"Heartbeat" is a song recorded by American singer and songwriter Carrie Underwood from her fifth studio album, Storyteller. It was written by Underwood, Ashley Gorley, and the song's producer, Zach Crowell. Country vocaliser Sam Chase sings bankroll vocals on the rail. The song was released to the radio by Arista Nashville on November xxx, 2015 as the album's second single, after "Smoke Break". Musically, "Heartbeat" is a land popular and a R&B song with lyrics that relate to the feeling of intimacy experienced by being alone with one's lover. It appears to exist inspired by Underwood's marriage to Mike Fisher.

"Heartbeat" was met with positive reviews from music critics and became a commercial success. Information technology reached number 1 on the Billboard Land Airplay chart, becoming Underwood's fourteenth leader on the nautical chart, widening her tape for the most number-one's among women in the history of the chart. The vocal was beginning released to digital retailers as a promotional single from Storyteller on Oct 9, 2015.[5] It sold 23,000 digital copies in its commencement week, debuting at number five on the Land Digital Songs nautical chart for the week of Oct 19, 2015.[11] That same calendar week, it debuted on the Billboard Hot Country Songs nautical chart at number 26, and on the Billboard Bubbles Under Hot 100 Singles extension chart at number 23.[12] [xiii]

"Heartbeat" entered the Hot Canadian Digital Songs nautical chart at number 31.[20] The song also reached number 60 on the Canadian Hot 100 and number i on the Canada Country nautical chart, condign her third single to practise so, and the 2nd from Storyteller.[21] It also became her third charting single in Scotland, debuting on the Scottish Singles Chart at number 80.[22]

Music video [edit]

The official music video for the single, directed by Randee St. Nicholas, was released on Dec ii, 2015.

The video shows Underwood in a sparkly gilded flowing dress, walking barefoot through a lush forest, bustling the melody of the vocal. She is seen wandering through the forest and singing the ballad.[23]

Alive performances [edit]

Underwood performed the song live at the 2015 American Music Awards on Nov 22, 2015.[24] She also performed the song on the twelfth season of The X Factor on November 29, 2015.[25]

Underwood performed the song along with Sam Hunt at the 58th Grammy Awards on February 15, 2016. The pair likewise performed Chase'south song "Take Your Fourth dimension".[26]
